About a month ago I went to Google SEA office for business purposes and the one thing I was super excited about was *drum roll* the office tour! Had been hearing from so many people about how cool the office is, so I was really excited to see for my self.
The first area we went to was the cafetaria. Google provides free breakfast & lunch for its employees (and their guest, of course). The selections were quite many, and tastes good too! Definitely above my expectation.

we can even make our own waffles!
This was my lunch. For office cafetaria, I tell you, this is way above standard. It’s almost like a grade B version of lunch buffet at 5 star hotels. Well maybe I’m exaggerating. Grade B- is about right. And since people who work at Google are of multiple nationalities, the food selections always vary so they can cater the different tastes of the employees. Very thoughtful.
And I have to say, Google definitely don’t want to let their people hungry. Aside from the huge cafetaria, they also have mini pantries for us to get snacks (nuts, chips, chocolates, candies, bread, etc) & drinks
What’s also fun is the areas meant for getaway and relaxation. They have this room with a beach ambience, with the intention that you’ll feel like working by the ocean LOL
And my two fave spaces, the massage room, and the karaoke room! However, the Google guys said that these two rooms are almost never used. I was like, whaaat???

This is me and Anand, one of the Google guys, in the Karaoke Room
I was also amused by their interpretation of bringing Google Earth to live. They have this device + huge screen that enables us to “go” anywhere we want to go. In the pic below, I was at Golden Gate Bridge ^-^
They’re really trying to have the SEA feel to the office, so they name the meeting rooms with SEA terms, iconic places, and also artist names. And guess who was the pick for the Indonesian artist representing the country at the Google SEA office? See for yourself
All in all, it was a fun office. Hopefully our new office at the new site will be more awesome than this * fingers crossed*
