Like I mentioned in my previous entry, getting that voluminous hair? Definitely Not Easy. Shampoo plays a really big part, and this is the story of how I finally found the one.
I’ve tried and tried many different shampoos , and none gives that va va voom effect I expected. And I’m also not the type to spend that much on shampoo, so passed on all the super premium brands. I consider anything above 100K for a 200ml-ish bottle way too expensive. This is one cheapskate Miss Hair Drama here, people!
So I first came accross this shampoo when I was strolling at Setiabudi Supermarket, Bandung – about 3 years ago. Finesse is a familiar brand for me, I’ve read about it in several magazines, so was quite interested. It says on the pack that the formula is oil free, that got me more interested. And then the final push, the price was only 50K for almost 500ml. With all of those reasons, I hesitated no more and bought it straight away.
First time I tried it, the effect was pretty significant. Like we say here, “Blownya cepet jadi”. I can feel (and see) my hair became more full, voluminous, and bouncy. My scalp also tends to be oily, so usually the day after I wash my hair, it starts to get flat. But with this shampoo, it doesn’t get flat so easily – at least the clean feeling lasts up to two days. Convinced of the product’s efficacy, I asked my friend @tfadilm to buy the rest of the stock in Setiabudi Supermarket for me, because I couldn’t find it anywhere else.
It’s quite hard to be so dependant on a shampoo that is not widely distributed in the city (or country!) that you live in. But since I am so determined to use this shampoo, I did whatever it takes to keep having it around. Such as bringing home a few bottles from Bangkok (found it when I was there), troubled my brother in law to bring it home whenever he visits Manila, etc. So you can imagine how happy I was when @Lydiette told me she found Finesse Volumizing Shampoo in FooHall Senayan City, here in JAKARTA. After that I went straight away and emptied all their stock (which was only 4 bottles). Scared that the importer would stop delivering here, also cleaned up the stock in FoodHall PIM (which was only 3 bottles, btw). But after that I went to KemChicks and found that they’re also available there, so I stopped stocking.
So if you’re interested to try, go visit FoodHall/KemChicks. Hopefully they still have stock available. Price/bottle is around IDR 70K. There’s only 1 bottle size, around 380ml.
Their conditioner is also alright, but personally I think using your current conditioner will be fine too – as long as you use it only on the hair ends. I myself currently use Finesse’s Enhancing Conditioner.
In case the Volumizing Shampoo is out of stock, you might want to try their Enhancing Shampoo (the one with the blue symbol). I used that too for some time, back when I couldn’t find the volumizing one – still works better than most of the shampoos I’ve tried.
